MV Xpress Pearl v/21018E – fire on board – general average declared
Above vessel caught fire in the Arabian Gulf en route to Colombo. All crew has been evacuated from the vessel and is safe.
All CargoGulf clients with containers on board under our bill of lading have been notified and asked to co-operate with the General Average Adjusters and ourselves.
This will have an impact on service operations for the CargoGulf AGA service operating with part charter parties between South East Asia and The Arabian Gulf. The Xpress Pearl will not return to this service, so there will be a gap in sailings till our subsequent voyage. Containers booked for export from Asia to Arabian Gulf on the Xpress Pearl ex Port Klang and Singapore are transferred to the following vessel MV Cussler v/122W.
There will be a knock-on effect of “rolled bookings” until we can clear the backlog of bookings, which were supposed to be shipped on MV Xpress Pearl. We will do our best to expedite this for our clients.
Hazardous cargo bookings on the AGA service:
Please be advised that with immediate effect, CargoGulf (under the instructions from vessel owners) will temporarily suspend all bookings of hazardous cargoes.
We will liaise directly with clients who have cargo on board. Finally, we express our sincere commiserations to Sea Consortium/Xpress Feeders. She was a wonderful vessel to behold. There were no following calm seas for this lady.
